"Congratulations, Sir Henrick, on your successful venture of the Radio Shack Special"
...your friend, Patrick
Here are words and pictures from Sir Henrick's Maiden Voyage of his own Radio Shack Special...
Although it's been some time since
my RSS maiden voyage (Aug 04), it was indeed my first ever
successful voyage with any receiver. I had been searching for
information and ideas on simple receiver circuits for some time.
I did find and build some, but frustration and lack of success
was the usual outcome.
Then a revelation! The Radio Shack Special! Finally someone who was not saying to "use what you have available" or "substitute from your junkbox"... but instead a simple message, follow my directions and your success will be almost guaranteed.
So, a little time later after
finding all the components, preparing the circuit board,
soldering everything in place, what else is there to do?
"Switch on, a hissing noise. Turn the tuning capacitor, a radio station! Adjust the regeneration a little, then the volume and spend the next hour exploring the local FM band for the first time in many years"!
Success, and the Maiden Voyage is complete. I have gone on to make other Maiden Voyages, but the RSS will always be the first!
Best regards from Sydney, Australia, Henrik Stenstrom
