Hi Sir!!!
Ok, this is what we're waiting for...
When I did some final adjustments on my Islander, the results were good and got even more higher outputs. The outputs I got were 28 and 26 volts DC. That is, around 14 to 15 watts with the impedance of 6 to 7 ohms. I don't know if that was good, but it really gave me good results...the range!
Here we go...
This evening, I asked a favor to my best friend. He was on the way home from work. He lived far from my home which is 15.6 to 17 miles from mine. When he tuned his car radio at 87.9 MHz while driving several miles away, I told him to start testing the range very near my home. He did.
From our home and the starting line which is about 3 miles, he began to hear my signal (using the discman, just like a typical DJ) loud and clear, no problem. As he gets more farther, about 8 miles, it's still amazingly clear, but sometimes there's a hissing sound. By the way, he lived in an area where there are more trnasmitters like other radio stations, VHF radios, etc., are. His area is also high and lots of trees.
Anyway, during the test, it was already 10 miles and my signal was still heard. 11 miles...12 miles...up to his house, which is 15.6 to 17 miles, that was based from his dashboard meter gauge...that's why we knew the range.
So, when he finally got to his house (touchdown), he could still hear my signal, but a little weak due to many obstructions of course. I asked him what's the name or title I was playing, then he answered correctly. That way, I could easily know if he was really telling the truth. And that's it ! ! !
A clean 15.6 to 17 miles of range was tested by us. And therefore, my Islander works, oh, so GREAT ! ! ! If he only lived a little farther, let's say 20 or so miles, I think it's possible to hear my signal within that range. And because, he lived in a high area/place, that's the advantage, and FM signal travels best in a line of sight.
So, what do you think of my great voyage ? ? ? Yeah, you're right, it's time now to submit my Islander's images and stuffs to you, for my new website. Don't worry, my new digicam will be here in my hands soon. I hope !
...your friend, Harold
