The Maiden Voyage
I had first met Pedro when he had written a message on "Harry's Messageboard" from Harry's Homebrew Homepage, letting Harry know that he had just completed an "ugly-style" solder work on the TDA7000 chip.
Harry came back and complimented Pedro on his work....all the while I was reading their messages back and forth with each other. Well, I did e-mail Pedro and was curious on his circuitry...
From their I had noticed that Pedro was also interested in a VHF receiver that I had gotten down to a real low component count....with ONE transistor...he was excited and wanted me to send him the plans...so I did.
I do think I will let Pedro tell the rest of the story....as he has not only completed the project...but also took it a step further and enclosed it in a beautifully-constructed metal housing. He just sent me two pictures of the finished artwork. Here is what Pedro has to say...
"Building the RSS FM one transistor receiver has been to me a source of fascinating experience! With only a few components, an MPF 102 transistor, two simple coils very easy to wind, a small variable capacitor and several other parts, as Patrick clearly explains in detail, you have an FM receiver able to tune lots of FM stations nearby in the 88 to 108 MHz band.
You don't need to build complex technicalities...such as slope or phase detectors required for FM reception. The amazing simplicity of this super-regenerative receiver brings you the pleasure of hearing your favourite FM stations and at the same time the satisfying sense of personal achievements".

...two pictures
These pictures, through the deligent efforts of Pedro, are mainly here for you, in the hopes that from just a simple PCB and a few components, you too can experience the great feeling this project gives. The end result will be solely left up to you. Pedro took it many steps further in order to fulfill his "previsualization" of what he saw at the end of his journey. The overall quality is indeed an understatement and it would seem almost neglectful and if not rude....not to add these fine-finishing touches that Pedro gave to his little jewel...my hat is off to the first person who truly gave it life!
...my hat is off 2 times to Sir Pedro!
...and for an inside view of what this unit looks like!
